On Saturday June 15 at an unseasonably cool and drizzly afternoon beer fest in Redmond, WA the 2014 winners were announced for the WA Beer Awards. This second annual event (the awards, not the festival) was once again well attended by brewers licking their chops at the prospect of winning some medals. I helped judge a few of the categories of the 460 beers entered by over 100 Washington breweries about a month back–well organized just like judging the GABF in Denver. Briess again sponsored the Large Brewery of the Year and this years winner is Kulshan Brewing Co. from Bellingham, WA. Congratulations to David Vitt and head brewer Tom Eastwood for bringing home a total of five medals including 2 gold–great job! You can see the full winners list here.
