I visited with Ballast Point Brewing this past week in San Diego (it was San Diego Beer Week) and they have been very busy distilling their own spirits! From the original homemade still to the not-yet-hooked-up brand new still from KY they are cranking out gin, rum, and the not yet released whiskey (currently aging in barrels). The craft distilling industry is still in its infancy but there are new ones opening every month. What a great concept to be a brewery to produce your own wash for distilling your own products!
