Ingredients
Quantity Ingredient Comment Malt Style 8.0 lbs Brewers Malt Mash Grain Base malt 1.0 lb American Honey Malt Mash Grain Melanoidin 0.5 oz Cascade Hops (8.0% AAU) 60 minute boil 0.5 oz Saaz Hops (5.0% AAU) 15 minute boil 2 packs WLP835 German X Lager Yeast (plus 1/4 pack for bottle conditioning) Fermenter
Procedures
- Mash crushed grains in 3.5 gallons of water at 153-155°F for 60 minutes
- Sparge grain with 170°F water to obtain desired pre-boil kettle volume
- Bring to boil
- Add 0.5 oz Cascade hops
- Boil 45 minutes
- Add 0.5 oz Saaz hops
- Boil for 15 minutes
- Turn heat off and cool wort to 52°F
- Transfer to fermenter
- Pitch two packs of WLP835 German X Lager Yeast
Primary Fermentation: 2-3 weeks at 50-54°F
Secondary Fermentation: 2 weeks at 34-40°F
Fermentation Notes: Force carbonate, or bottle condition with dissolved priming sugar and ¼ pack of WLP835 German X Lager Yeast for 2-3 weeks
Original Gravity: 1.048
Final Gravity: 1.012
